Re: Step II Class Action Contractual Grievance
Dire Dearth of Postage to Mail Clients’ Letters
Article I. Purpose
Article XXV. Non-Discrimination
Article XXX. Work Distribution and Practices
Article XLIX. Safety of Staff
Dear Ms. Guarini:
CWA Local 1081 submits this Step II Class Action Contractual Grievance on behalf of our Union’s members to protest the fact that the Administration of the County of Essex has failed to procure U.S. Mail postage to mail appointment letters and other agency missives to the clients of the Essex County Division of Welfare.
Attached, please find three photographs which were taken today of just some of the mail awaiting postage so it may be mailed to our clients. As has unfortunately occurred in the past, if these letters are not mailed to our clients in a timely fashion a slew of them will not receive their benefits having been automatically, and improperly, deemed to have been uncooperative with our agencies policies. The predictable result will be thousands of additional clients coming into our agency’s already chronically and dangerously overcrowded offices. The resolution CWA Local 1081 respectfully demands to this grievance consists your expeditiously ensuring the purchase of postage and ensuring this lack of preparedness does not again occur.
Sincerely,
David H. Weiner, President, CWA Local 1081
