Re: Step III Class Action Contractual Grievance
Severe Shortage of Clerks in WSCSC
Article I. Purpose
Article VII. Discipline
Article XXV. Non-Discrimination
Article XXX. Work Distribution and Practices
Dear Mr. Ramos:
CWA Local 1081 submits this Step III Class Action Contractual Grievance to protest severe shortage of clerks presently assigned to the Westside office. SFS Carol Perkins did not respond to our Union's attached Step I Class Action Contractual Grievance of August 19, 2014 and Director Butler's attached Step II Class Action Contractual Grievance denial rejoinder of September 23, 2014 is unacceptable:
- Purportedly, the entirety of the Westside office has only three clerks there consigned.
- The office's clerks consist of a parsimonious single receptionist and merely two unit clerks.
- Specifically, another unit clerk (CT Unit) was reassigned to a unit on the second floor because a clerical member on that floor is out on sick leave.
- The CN Unit has been without a clerk for over one year.
The dearth of an not even nearly a sufficient supply of clerks assigned to the Westside office has resulted in acute pressure upon the three remaining, has caused them immense stress and has negatively impacted the introduction of the foolhardy so-called "case banking" system within the office as the Family Service Workers do have the clerical support needed. The resolution CWA Local 1081 respectfully demands, for the third time, to this grievance consists the County immediately hiring, and assigning, more clerks to the Westside office.
Sincerely,
David H. Weiner, President
CWA Local 1081
