Re: Step I Class Action Contractual Grievance
Not Even One Fxxxxxx Functioning Fax Machine!
Article I. Purpose
Article VII. Discipline
Article XXV. Non-Discrimination

Dear Ms. Perkins:

CWA Local 1081 submits this Step I Class Action Contractual Grievance on behalf of all of our members assigned to the Westside Citizen Services Center to protest the fact that for approximately the entire past month your office has had not even one functioning fax machine.

Within a social services office consisting of approximately eighty (80) employees serving thousands of clients, this situation is intolerable, irresponsible and damn close to morally criminal.

While the Administration of the County of Essex (in cahoots with the Board of Chosen Freeholders) annually cancels at the end of each fiscal year hundreds of thousands of dollars originally budgeted for such necessary equipment as fax machines and copiers for the Division of Welfare, our members are denied the requisite tools to address the overwhelming omens of poverty running rampant (while disturbingly politically disregarded) within the County.

Perhaps the animal inhabitants of the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo could be put on a slightly less opulent dietary regimen so as to concurrently continue to allow for their optimal health while rededicating the proceeds from their revamped menu of vital vittles to the optimal provision of social services for human beings (men, women and especially children) whom are languishing within deprivation.

You know, like less expensive fishes for the Sea Lions and a cheaper brand of rodents, chicks, and rabbits provided weekly for "The Mighty Komodo Dragon" (http://www.turtlebackzoo.org/tbzoo/npo.jsp?pg=home).

How about cancelling the "Wolf Birthday Party" scheduled for April13th and throw one for the County's children who through no fault of their own are barely surviving on threadbare welfare grants and miniscule food stamp allotments?

The resolution CWA Local 1081 demands to this grievance consists of the County immediately purchasing at least one brand new fax machine and deploying it within your office.

Disgustedly yours,

David H. Weiner, President
