Re: Step I Class Action Contractual Grievance
Unreasonable Application of Appearance Guidelines
Article I. Purpose
Article VII. Discipline
Article XXV. Non-Discrimination
Article XLIX. Safety of Staff
Dear Mr. Crawley:
CWA Local 1081 submits this Step I Class Action Contractual Grievance on behalf of our applicable members assigned to the Military Park Citizen Services Center to protest the content of the attached memorandum of April 16, 2012, written them by KC 3 Luz Rodriguez, entitled "Appearance Guidelines":
- Ms. Rodriquez apparently expects our applicable members to grow back their hair from a Mohawk style within two days, a physiological impossibility of which she must be aware.
- Ms. Rodriquez apparently expects our applicable members to "appropriately" re-dye their so-called "outlandish hair coloring" within two days, a chemical impossibility of which she must be well aware.
- Ms. Rodriquez apparently expects our applicable members to remove permanent body piercings, a physiological danger in some cases were they to try as she should be aware.
- Ms. Rodriquez apparently expects our applicable members to remove permanent body tattoos within two days, those which can't be covered by clothing, a scientific impossibility of which she should be aware.
The resolution CWA Local 1081, therefore, demands to this grievance consists of the your directing Ms. Rodriguez to withdraw her above cited memorandum and to, at the very minimum, replace it with one containing far more reasonable requisites.
We seek a hearing in this regard.
Sincerely,
David H. Weiner, President
CWA Local 1081
