Re: Step II Class Action Contractual Grievance
Inclusion of Social Security Numbers Upon Disciplinary Notices
Article I. Purpose
Article VII. Discipline
Article XXV. Non-Discrimination
Article XLIX. Safety of Staff
Dear Mr. Nigro:
CWA Local 1081 submits this Step II Class Action Contractual Grievance on behalf of all of our Union’s members whom have received, or ever shall receive, a Notice of Minor Disciplinary Action (both initial and final), a Preliminary Notice of Disciplinary Action (31-B) or a Final Notice of Disciplinary Action (31-B) from the County of Essex that include the members’ respective and complete Social Security number. The County’s inconsiderate inclusion of this individual information places our adversely affected members at risk of suffering a myriad of malignant and mean-spirited manipulations of their personal and/or family’s financial instruments and holdings. Even though these documents are considered confidential, their being handled by a possible panoply of persons renders the information contained therein very vulnerable.
The resolution CWA Local 1081 respectfully demands to this grievance consists of the County immediately ceasing to include our applicable members’ respective complete Social Security number upon all documents issued them, but particularly a Notice of Minor Disciplinary Action (both initial and final), a Preliminary Notice of Disciplinary Action (31-B) or a Final Notice of Disciplinary Action (31-B). We seek a hearing, in this regard.
Sincerely,
David H. Weiner, President, CWA Local 1081
