Re: Step II Class Action Contractual Grievance
Interminably Inoperable Elevator
Article I. Purpose
Article VII. Discipline
Article XXV. Non-Discrimination
Article XLIX. Safety of Staff
Dear Mr. Nigro:
CWA Local 1081 submits this Step II Class Action Contractual Grievance, on behalf of our members assigned to work within the privately-owned 18 Rector Street building, to protest the fact that the “middle elevator” within the structure has been inoperable for weeks with no apparent attempts to make it function having been undertaken:
- The loss of access to this elevator obviously compels our members to utilize the operable elevators, thus increasing the amount of time it takes them to attain access and egress from their respective offices.
- One injurious impact upon our members’ fettered ability to attain access and egress from their respective offices has been that a number of them have been marked as tardy inequitably.
- Another injurious impact upon our members’ fettered ability to attain access and egress from their respective offices has been that their dedication and desire to provide optimal services to their clients and to the agency have been hampered by the above cited lamentably long-termed languishing lift.
While our Union absolutely appreciates Chief of Administrative Services Marc Pilchman’s epic efforts to have rectified this adverse affair, CWA Local 1081 has determined that the gravity of this matter has risen to the level of requiring our submission of this grievance.
The resolution CWA Local 1081 respectfully demands to this grievance is for the County to make certain the abovementioned shocking state of affairs is rapidly resolved.
We seek a hearing, in this regard.
Sincerely,
David H. Weiner, President
CWA Local 1081
