Re: OCSE Reorganization Committee

Dear Mr. Nigro:

CWA Local 1081 submits this request you afford our Union the opportunity to appoint one Family Service Worker member and one Clerk member of our Local to the committee you recently formed to advise you on the reorganization of the Office of Child Support and Enforcement.

While the review of agency processes is almost always a positive means of evaluating and bettering procedures, it is our Union’s concerns that our applicable members not bear an unreasonable burden of responsibility for whatever OCSE deficiencies management maintains exist. We believe, as well, that our applicable members’ experience and expertise performing OCSE responsibilities position them uniquely well to take part in your newly-formed committee as inestimable assets.

After all, the Essex County Division of Welfare has, of recent, received several awards extolling the excellence of our agency’s functions, including the OCSE and Food Stamp programs. While the personal commendation bestowed upon you this week by Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo is richly deserved, we believe you will undoubtedly concur with our Union’s assertion that such a distinction could not have been achieved without the hard work and dedication of our Union’s members.

Sincerely,

David H. Weiner, President
