November 15, 2008 - The Essex County Department Roundtable convened on Friday November 14, 2008 to discuss the dire effects of the county's financial condition, among other topics. Read more about the meeting here.

November 5, 2008 - CWA Local 1081 thanks all of our Union’s members who took part in yesterday’s historic and unprecedented election of Senator Barack Obama as President of the United States.

November 4, 2008 - David explains the ADA in defense of CWA 1081's members.

October 28, 2008 - David responds to rumors of layoffs amongst Welfare personnel in the coming year.

October 27, 2008 - CWA Local 1081 respectfully requests that Deputy Director Yvonne Davis meet with the union to discuss our members whom have been working within the Essex County Division of Welfare with the title Data Processing Technician.Read more about this here.

October 25, 2008 - Read the letter of appreciation sent by Union member Antoinette Floyd, who credits the Union with providing her with opportunities to advance in her career.

October 9, 2008 - The Automated Time and Attendance Program did not function for two days within both the Downtown Citizen Services Center and Office of Child Support and Enforcement office. Read more about this here.

September 26, 2008 - CWA Local 1081 respectfully requests Ms. Hasan no longer be assigned by the County of Essex to serve as a hearing officer in matters involving any members of our Union. Read more here.

September 12, 2008 - CWA Local 1081 has recently been notified by a number of our Union’s members that they did not believe the County has been properly calculating their overtime payments. Read about the action taken.

August 22, 2008 - The concerns of many female members of CWA Local 1081 oft expressed to their Union protesting management’s dress code prohibition regarding the wearing of capris on the job have been successfully addressed.

August 19, 2008 - Retroactive overtime payments to our members whom were plaintiffs to our Union’s lawsuit over underpaid wages ranged from as little as $4 to as much as $400 per person. Read more here.

August 11, 2008 - CWA Local 1081 requests our members assigned to the Food Stamps Citizen Services Center, as well as those members with cause to visit the 50 South Clinton Street facility, to be scrupulous about wearing their agency-issued ID cards to work every day. Read more here.
