Step III Grievance Denial Re. ID Cards
Click here for Essex County Department of Citizen Services Director Anibal Ramos' Step III Class Action Contractual Grievance denial response to CWA Local 1081's attached grievance of October 16, 2007 protesting "the inconsistent message the County is sending to our Union's members regarding the proper method they should utilize when sliding their ID tags into their plastic case holders".
Apparently, the County is not concerned that our Union's members have been instructed to "insert their ID cards into the holder with their photograph and other identity information facing the red sliding strip" thus thwarting any attempt by security personnel, clients and any other legitimately interested parties to discern the last names of those who claim to be employed by the Essex County Division of Welfare.
Considering that the much managerially touted automated time and attendance swipe card system has yet to function weeks after its installation, the security apparatus finally approved for County-owned 50 South Clinton Street appears a long time from being put into place and operation and that the security doors at the first floor entrance of the privately-owned 18 Rector Street site remain wide-open daily with all of the elevators encouraged by security to be utilized by clients and staff alike at all times, this latest grievance denial comes as no surprise to our Union.
In fact, if nothing else, our Union may come away from this latest example of bureaucrat bungling with the surety and security that management is at least, if nothing else, consistent.
