CWA Local 1081 respectfully requests all of our Union’s members donate one or more of their own sick and/or vacation days to allow Sister Shalga Hightower to attend the trial of those accused of the murder of her daughter, Iofemi.
As per the attached memorandum from Director Yvonne Davis, donations will allow our grieving member to honor the memory of her child by personally observing the trial of those accused of taking her young life.
Leading by example, please note the copy of the Donated Leave Program document wherein I have donated one of my own sick days to Sister Hightower.
I have a particular interest in this tragedy as it occurred within the back of the grammar school I attended when I was raised in Newark, Mt. Vernon Elementary School.
