Newark Teachers Union

New Jersey Citizen Action Oil Group

TO:              All CWA Local 1081 Members

FROM:       David H. Weiner, President

DATE:        April 27, 2010

SUBJECT: Standing Up Together!

Thousands of CWA members and their families will join tens of thousands of other union members, students, veterans, civil rights advocates, retirees, concerned taxpayers and community activists for an enormous rally in Trenton on Saturday, May 22, 2010 as concerned residents from all corners of New Jersey descend on the State House to oppose Chris Christie’s disastrous budget priorities.

“Everyone from public workers to seniors to students to veterans is going to see their taxes increased and their services diminished if Chris Christie gets his way.  Everyone except the millionaires who are getting a tax cut,” said CWA State Director Hetty Rosenstein.  “This rally will be a huge outpouring of those of us who will be affected if Chris Christie gets his way, and we are going to tell the State Legislature that it’s time to stand up to his budget priorities.”

CWA will be joining hundreds of other community groups and CWA is currently in the process of renting buses, setting up carpools, monitoring train schedules--anything necessary to make sure such an overwhelming number of people can make it to Trenton.

CWA Local 1081 has rented four buses to transport our members and their families and friends to Trenton to fight the disastrous impact Chris Christie’s proposed budget will wreak upon the Essex County Division of Welfare, its employees and its clients. If needed, we will rent as many buses as we can fill.

CWA Local 1081’s buses will leave from the Hall of Records, Newark, at 8:30 am on Saturday, May 22, 2010 for the historic Trenton rally and will leave Trenton at 3:00 pm.

Lunch and snacks will be provided on the buses.

Complete the attached “Standing up, Standing Together” form and return it to your Shop Steward.
