SUBJECT: OCSE GD-Unit Transfer Protest Victory!
CWA Local 1081 is proud to announce that the County of Essex has transferred the members of the GD-Unit back to their OCSE duties from Intake Unit duties after approximately two months.
Our Union filed two grievances (Step III Class Action Grievance attached) and had the National CWA file for arbitration in order to protest the County having violated our contract by having transferred a unit filled with very senior Family Service Workers over their less senior counterparts.
The lessons to be learned from this successful outcome are as follows:
- CWA Local 1081 will always vigorously protest managerial inequities towards our Union’s members and pursue the matters as far as they may.
- Adversely affected CWA Local 1081 members must never lose faith in their Union and must be patient and allow the grievance processes to play out.
- When CWA Local 1081 is victorious when fighting for our members, those members must inform their Union when such victories have been achieved and not assume management has informed us our battles have been won.
