SUBJECT: Aetna/Benecard Prescription Program
A CWA Local 1081 member today emailed her Union the following question:
Dear David, thank you for you informing us about our Aetna card being issued around 12/15/09. My question to you is about the Caremark prescription - 3mth supply of medicine. If you have an existing medicine contract with Caremark and there is still 2 months issuance to be given, would this be automatically transferred to the new prescription company? Otherwise, do I have to get a new subscription from the same doctor to be filled for another 3 month supply of the same medicine?
Within another respectfully rapid response to an email inquiry from CWA Local 1081, Essex County Director of Human Resources Alan Abramowitz in the above cited regard replied as follows:
For mail in Rx, they will need to get a new script from the doctor, and submit to Benecard. I encourage employees to refill if possible with Caremark prior to 12/31/09, in order to ensure a supply.
For prescription renewals refilled at a pharmacy, the pharmacist can transfer the prescription to Benecard on 1/1/09.
