SUBJECT: An Appreciated Member’s Message of Appreciation

Below, please find a copied email message sent me by Antoinette Floyd, a Unit Clerk Typist assigned to Adult Medicaid. As I have served as president of CWA Local 1081 for the past twenty-eight years, often at significant personal sacrifice, receiving a message of appreciation from a member such as Sister Floyd makes it all seem to have been worth while…after all:

Mr. Weiner I would like to thank you for your continued support and representation to the CWA members. I've been here with the agency for almost three years and I tried on two different attempts to apply for the Provisional FSW position. Both times I was denied the right to advance my career. Up until recently, I forwarded you a memo regarding my circumstance and was tired of being denied the right to progress within the agency.

Well because of you I had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Alagia and discuss the potential I posses. He made a phone call to Mr Nigro and asked if he had a problem with me becoming a Prov. FSW knowing there are many vacancies open. He kindly agreed, and that was it.

Mr. Alagia made a few more calls to HR and informed them of the status change with me and would like for me to start as soon as possible. In this case I met with Mr Alagia on Wednesday October 8, 2008 so that Monday was a holiday. That week passed and the following week as well. I made a call to Mr Alagia's office and Mr Al from H.R. informed me that my promotion is in affect but is going through the committee and to be a little patient.

So since Mr Al confirmed to me that they are still working on the promotional change, I would like to thank you so much and say, GREAT JOB BOSS!

Sincerely,

Antoinette Floyd, Adult Medicaid, Unit Clerk Typist
